Remembering Stuart Piper
Our colleague and friend Stuart Piper passed away on Christmas Eve 2018, after losing a long and brave battle with illness.
Stuart faced his illness in the same way he took on any challenge, determined and calm but with a genuine smile and his family at his side. Our thoughts are with the Piper family, who have dealt with his ill-health and loss with strength, love and dignity.
Stuart was one of our longest serving employees and very important to the business. He started at Stride in October 1998, working on various roles in the company until finding his niche as our National Account Manager.
Popular throughout the insurance community, Stuart had many broker friends and managed our key relationships with dedication and professionalism. Stuart always had a warm smile and time for everyone – he brought the human touch to every account and will be sorely missed throughout the industry.
Stuart was a true family man and nothing was more important to him than his wife Debbie and two young daughters Abigail and Megan. Aside from his family life, his two great passions were Portsmouth FC and Formula 1 motor racing. Deeply knowledgeable about both, it was typical of Stuart that he took Pompey’s ups and downs with a wry smile, always proud of his team and positive about the future.
On the day of his memorial service, Stride staff wore “blue for Stu” to recognise his life long support for Portsmouth. We are proud to have been part of Stuart’s life – he is a big part of the company and many of the relationships he developed continue to the present day.
Stuart will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone at Stride.
The Rowans Hospice at Purbrook in Hampshire gave Stuart and his family incredible support. Stride has a long relationship with the Rowans, and continues to support the hospice with staff fundraising and corporate donations.
